First Steps in Rated PvP

For players who never played rated PvP, or stopped long ago. It starts against AI in the Training Grounds, then climbs the season's ranks one at a time, in whichever bracket you like: 2v2, 3v3, Solo Shuffle, Blitz or rated battlegrounds. Every rank counts in any bracket. A rank can take more than a week; the road waits.

  1. Stage 1

    Practice without a rating

    • Pick your PvP talents from a current guide for your spec, and bind your interrupt and trinket

    • Win 10 Training Grounds arena games against AI (Arena Exercise)

    • Play five battlegrounds or arena games (Entering Battle)

      Achievement · Wowhead

    • Spend your Honor on honor gear, weapon first

  2. Stage 2

    The first rated wins

    • Win a rated 2v2 or 3v3 game (Step Into the Arena)

    • Win 15 Solo Shuffle rounds (Sole Survivor)

    • Reach 1,000 rating in any bracket (Combatant I)

  3. Stage 3

    Combatant

    • Reach 1,200 rating in any bracket (Combatant II)

      Achievement · Wowhead

    • Earn 2,500 Conquest this season, spending it on conquest gear as you go (Venomous Weapons of Conquest)

    • Write down one thing that lost you a round, and try one fix the next evening

  4. Stage 4

    Challenger

    • Reach 1,400 rating in any bracket (Challenger I)

    • Win 50 Solo Shuffle rounds (Successful Solos)

    • Fill the season rewards bar with rated wins at 1,000 or more for the Vicious Lightbloom Boar

  5. Stage 5

    Challenger II

    • Reach 1,600 rating in any bracket (Challenger II)

      Achievement · Wowhead

    • Win ten rated games in a bracket you have not played yet

  6. Stage 6

    Rival

    • Reach 1,800 rating in any bracket (Rival I, with the title Rival)

      Achievement · Wowhead

    • Pick your next goal: Rival II at 1,950, or a slower road for the rest of the season
